Shelf supports and brackets

As the shelf support forms a functional unit with the panel that rests upon it, the future load on the panel is decisive when considering its suitability. The loading capacity of the panel as well as possible sag must also be taken into consideration. Rule of thumb for the do-it-yourselfer: stability is better than decorative and inexpensive. The material or the combination of materials used for the carcase and shelf also plays an important role. A classic shelf support comprises a plastic roll and steel pin with flattened top edge. Push-in shelf supports with or without sleeve and the spoon-shaped shelf support are simply pushed into the predrilled hole line (System 32) in the side panel. Additional shelf connecting fittings and shelf supports for grooved shelves or glass shelves are also pushed into the five millimetre holes in the hole line.
