A locking plan can handle access rights to buildings and furniture for up to 16 000 locks and 8 000 users. These numbers can be increased by compiling additional locking plans. The elaborate planning effort - normally running into months - associated with mechanical key systems falls away completely. The modular system is designed for personalized allocation of access rights and can be altered and expanded as required. For example, a new facility will need progressively increasing security. While construction is still in progress, the initial locking plan might cover only external entrances. It would then be updated as tenants move in to cover internal doors and finally furniture. The locking plan in the form of a 2-dimensional matrix is amazingly easy to manage: making a cross at the intersection of a row and a column unambiguously allocates specific access rights to a person. Locks and transponders are conveniently activated via a PC or handheld organizer. |
