New apprentices, students and one-year placement trainees at Hettich and EWIKON

On 1 August 2012, Markus Hahnke, 'Prokurist' - authorised signatory - at Hettich, Volker Bornscheuer, training supervisor at Hettich, Britta Trompeter, human resources coordinator at Hettich and Gerhardt Cloodt, training supervisor at EWIKON, welcomed no fewer than 28 new apprentices, students and work placement trainees embarking on a new chapter in their lives by starting a career with the Hettich Group and EWIKON.

Eighteen junior staff have opted for a technical apprenticeship and will be getting to know the the various departments at the Frankenberg operation over the next few years as future foundry, process, tool, production, industrial and metal-cutting mechanics, mechatronic engineering as well as warehouse technicians. One young lady is learning to become an industrial business management assistant. Four career career entrants have decided in favour of a dual course of studies in engineering or economics. Five one-year placement trainees will be gathering initial work experience. "The number of apprentices is growing all the time and is one of the best ways of securing our pool of skilled and qualified personnel", remarks Britta Trompeter in the light of demographic change.

Hettich and EWIKON have been training their apprentices on a joint basis for many years. Hettich uses the apprenticeship workshop whereas apprentices at EWIKON learn their trade in the various specialised departments. "Our experience with the joint training system has been very good”, say Volker Bornscheuer, training superviser at Hettich and Gerhard Cloodt, training supervisor at EWIKON, summing up. The training partnership has another charm though: Hettich uses EWIKON's hot runner technology in its injection moulding facilities
