Since April 1 this year the Hettich Group have been smoke-free zones
Since April 1 this year, all Hettich Group buildings in Kirchlengern and Bünde have been smoke-free zones. Employees may now only smoke outside in designated areas. The new arrangements apply everywhere, from the boardroom to the production fl oor. The general smoking ban was initiated with the support of the German Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) and the medical insurers BKK Melitta Plus. It came into force once it had been approved in a joint session of the works councils and company management.
Systematic protection for non-smokers from the risks of tobacco smoke is an important component in the company’s health policy. To protect and promote health and healthy lifestyles, we aim to minimize occupational health hazards, to reduce the incidence of health problems and to increase the well-being of all our employees. So we’re not simply banning smoking, we also have special programmes in place to help people who want to give up smoking. The vision of an apple break instead of a cigarette break is still just that, but commitment and preventive measures will be seen as a step in the right direction.
