For these four weeks I should live in a small place called Dundalk in Ireland and learn something. I had never heard of Dundalk. However, the atlas shows that this city is located approximately 80 km from Dublin, in the Louth County. When I reached Dublin, „my new family“, with whom I was supposed to stay during my internship, was already expecting me. I was given a nice, small room (however, without heating and in the freezing cold of December). Immediately I became a part of the family. Wonderfully exciting. Even more exciting was the company I was working with, a wholesaler, who sold Bonbons along with stationery and small office furniture. This company reminded me of our own corner shops. My main tasks were assisting in the delivery trips and delivering to the customers.

In addition I had also taken up the task of arranging for the cartridges for the printers in the sales racks. This helped me identify the cartridges that had crossed the expiry date and discard them. My Boss however, said: „We are not in Germany. They can still be sold."

And there was the Irish dialect: initially it took some time to get used to but I was in constant communication with my colleagues and customers. This helped me improve.

All in all I had spent a wonderful and interesting time in Ireland. I could expand my knowledge about the country and the language. At the same time I also amassed a wealth of experience
valuable for my career.

Conclusion: An international apprenticeship is highly recommended and more than ever.
