Since December 1, 2006, Hettich Logistics Service has offered training in a new career area: Commercial Clerk for Logistics Services. The trainees work in the new Logistics Centre making sure they get a good grounding in all aspects of processes in the different departments. Just as Hettich had to take an important decision with the construction of the Logistics Centre, I, too, had to take an important decision for myself. I’d left school, done my national service and I was uncertain what to do next. Life was full of questions. What do I want to become? How much time and effort do I want to invest? And – most important – what career has a future? I was still asking questions, but when I really thought about it the answer was in plain view all around me. Globalization! And globalization is making logistics more important than ever for supplying the markets. This was one good reason for deciding on this traineeship. And now here I am, one of the first people on this new course. With no practical experience, but very optimistic. My training officers, Ulrike Hellmich and Henning Sedlak, are putting a huge effort into making learning as easy as possible. It’s not just the traineeship that is new to me, but also the vocational training at the Rudolf-Rempel College. But I’m determined todo my utmost to fulfil everyone’s expectations.
Only time will tell whether the right decisions have been taken. I, for my part, am sure I’ve made the right choice.
