| For the second time now, pupils from local schools have visited Hettich to find out more about technical and engineering training with our company. BINGO is the acronym for a regional initiative in East-Westphalia-Lippe that aims to increase awareness of the educational opportunities on offer in this sector. Some 40 pupils from academically-oriented secondary schools in Bünde came to tour our modern training facilities in Kirchlengern.
Our own apprentices talked to potential candidates about their training and about possible career paths. And we didn’t stop at theory. “Please touch and try for yourself” was the motto when the visitors were shown the control unit of an industrial robot or a pneumatic control system.
Our trainer, Heinz-Hermann Schmidt, talked to the visitors about job profiles, the selection process and career paths at Hettich. The next speaker was Prof. Dr. Gisbert Jäckel from the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences who talked about the Cooperative Engineering Course. This is a joint project of several years’ standing between the university and Hettich. It gives young people with good school grades (A-level equivalent) the opportunity to obtain a jouneyman’s certificate plus a university degree (in future a bachelor’s or master’s degree).
The pace of technology developments in a global market place is a huge challenge, but it also opens up opportunities for young people with a technical and engineering bent. Hettich has a great need for qualified specialist workers and with events like this, we are taking a proactive approach to coping with demographic developments. |
