1:0 for our young talents

Team “Junior Action“ rocks again

DSC-Sport General Manager Reinhard Saftig (l.), DSC Manager Albrecht Lämmchen (m.) and professional defender Bernd Korzynietz (r.) in a conversation with the “juniors“.

For our “juniors” this year has began with a sport event. Seven new members from several companies of our Group, among them a colleague from Spain, have joined the team. Now the team counts 14 people from inland and abroad who meet with Bernd Riechers (board member) at different locations ten times a year. In 2006, the juniors took a look at German Handball League. This year our “juniors” were invited by the management board of DSC Arminia Bielefeld to see the match between DSC Arminia Bielefeld and VfL Bochum in the Schüco-Arena in Bielefeld. Even though DSC lost the match, our "juniors" were happy to meet General Manager Reinhard Saftg, Manager Albrecht Lämmchen and the defender Bernd Korzynietz to talk about professional sport. A sport team, just like a company, sometimes has to handle bad times. One can’t be on the top without any effort. Sport Manager Saftig and professional player Korzynietz made clear that the key to winning is a team in which every single member contributes personal fitness and skills. A trainer does not score, but he motivates the team, so that the players do their best to win the match.

Under the direction of professor Alexander Cisik (psychological coach of Handball League) from College Niederrhein, our “juniors” were confronted with the task to develop a strategy which takes the DSC to the top. The “juniors” stayed at the Gerry-Weber-Sporthotel in Halle to developed suitable suggestions. Afterwards they presented their suggestions to DSC representatives Mr. Saftig, Mr. Lämmchen and Mr. Korzynietz and discussed the ideas. We wonder what Arminia will do with the new ideas?

Our "juniors" have realized that sports and the Change Management, which is essential in a company, have something in common. Employees are often underestimated in their role as factor of success within change processes. That is the reason why the “juniors” took part in a workshop which was moderated by the psychologist and coach professor Cisik.

During the workshop the juniors used the chance to meet former “Junior Action” members who now perform important and responsible functions. This year  Uwe Kreidel (Technical Manager of division Kitchen & BathGeneral Manager Paul Hettich), Michael Kintzel (Sales Manager of division Kitchen & Bath/General Manager of Hettich Marketing and Sales) as well as Hettich FurniTech Sales Manager for export Thomas Kröger were there to discuss the developments and opportunities at Hettich and to give our juniors career advice.

Despite that Arminia lost the match against Bochum, our juniors certainly were winners – in gaining new important experiences.
