The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is certainly one of the most spectacular and sensational building built in the last decade. The huge museum with curved and bent forms covered with titanium is built alongside the Nervión River.




Leasure & Fun

The Basque Country or Euskadi, as it is known locally, is a place of enormous vitality and has a rich historical background. Apart from this, Euskadi offers an interesting opera season which is mainly concentrated during the winter months in one of the capitals: Bilbao. The Jazz Festival in Vitoria and San Sebastian, are further examples of the cultural activity that the region has to offer throughout the year.




Family & Friends

The regions cities are a rich mixture of tradition and modernism and each has its own unique character. Within the Basque region you can do just about anything including play golf, surf, go to a bullfight, ride horses in open countryside or even laze on the beach. By the way - basque cooking enjoys a reputation for being one of the best cuisines in the world.




Facts & Figures

In each case an eighth of the total population lives in the metropolises Madrid and Barcelona. Further centers of dense development are Bilbao, Sevilla and Valencia. The coastal regions altogether have compared with regions inside a relatively high population density.
