Cooperative degree in engineering

Apprenticeships and degrees at Hettich

This is a degree course combining practical training in metal working (the equivalent of an apprenticeship) with an engineering degree at a German University of Applied Sciences (FH). The University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld cooperates with a network of industrial partners, including the Hettich Group in Kirchlengern, to offer this degree.

Hettich has long worked in close co-operation with higher education institutions, eg, to plan internships for prospective engineers, support diploma theses and to allocate research studies to the institutes. Therefore it was a natural step to participate in the new degree course developed by the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Bielefeld. We're well aware of the importance of highly-trained specialists for our competitive success.

The course:
This degree course takes 4 ½ years. During the first four semesters you spend 4 days a week attending courses at the university and 1 day a week on practical training in the company. During the fifth and sixth semesters, all your time will be spent training and learning in the company. You will receive intensive preparation for the Chamber of Industry and Commerce examinations and, at the same time, you'll broaden and deepen your mechanical engineering knowledge. In the last 2 semesters, you have the option of combining theory and practice during an internship. In consultation with the university, we will also support you in finding a topic for your degree thesis.

This degree course is not offered every year, so please contact us or the university well in advance for detailed information.
