Job description: Your job will include assembling, installing and testing power supply equipment, measurement and control systems and communications technology. You will also commission and start up microcomputer systems and the programmable logic control systems and troubleshoot errors. You'll also service and maintain all these systems. Typically you'll work with power distribution, building infrastructure, manufacturing system and processing systems and electrical equipment in general.
The potentially dangerous work of an electrician working in manufacturing industry requires the careful observance of health and safety standards. You'll be expected to think for yourself and work independently, but good communication with specialists in associated areas is also important. Teamwork is essential.
