It was with his "piano hinge" that August Hettich revolutionised furniture design back in 1931. His design was preceded by the first fully automatic piano-hinge machine. A gigantic leap in technology on the road to industrial furniture production.

The history of furniture development has always been accompanied by patented Hettich products. Hettich has never just been the supplier of individual components. The aim has been, and still is, to realise the technological side of visionary homes.

We create spaces for ideas, world-wide!Architects, planners, designers and tradespeople meet at the Hettich DesignSpots. They discuss feasibility, sketch ideas, exchange know-how and experience. This produces synergies and unusual solutions.

We create networks! New production and building materials are opening up a whole new perspective for the home of tomorrow. For this, many individual components must be pieced together to create an innovative overall solution. Building up competency networks stimulates technological progress and ensure marketable applications.

We promote design! For over 10 years, Hettich has been promoting "Design of the future" as the initiator and organiser of the International Design Award (IDA). Every two years, young students from across the globe are invited to formulate their visionary ideas against a realistic background. The response in each competition is overwhelming, the panel high-calibre and the results fascinating.
